God promises blessings to those who follow His word.
The following verse shows us God’s concern for providing for man, while at the same time preserving creation for future use.
God adds a special promise of long life to those who follow this command and preserve His creation:
Deuteronomy 22:6-7
6 If you come across a bird’s nest beside the road, either in a tree or on the ground, and the mother is sitting on the young or on the eggs, do not take the mother with the young.
7 You may take the young, but be sure to let the mother go, so that it may go well with you and you may have a long life.
Going back to Job:
Despite all of his suffering, his faith in God was restored when he observed the majesty of God’s creation.
Job 12:7-10
7 “But ask the animals, and they will teach you,
or the birds in the sky, and they will tell you;
8 or speak to the earth, and it will teach you,
or let the fish in the sea inform you.
9 Which of all these does not know
that the hand of the Lord has done this?
10 In his hand is the life of every creature
and the breath of all mankind.
Despite Job’s inability to understand creation as God does, he saw that we are together with every creature in God’s hand.
He tells us that to truly know God, we must observe and celebrate His creation.
There is a special blessing in knowing how much creation can teach us about our Creator.
